Scholastic Learning Clinic

CSDA and Ricks Institute in Liberia will co-organize the first Scholastic Learning Clinic in March 2014. More than 26 schools and 200 students are expected to participate in the clinic which will be held at Ricks Institute outside of Monrovia.

Goals:

  • To improve students’ academic performance and provide a public platform for showcasing advanced analytical, problem-solving, critical thinking, oratory and creative skills.
  • Catalyze the formation of chess clubs and Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) teams at the schools that participate in the clinic.
  • Encourage students to devote more time to maths and sciences.
  • Inspire students to develop greater appreciation for local arts-based learning and collaborative exercises.

  • The Role of Schools, Teachers and Coaches

The performance of students after the Scholastic Learning Clinic will depend on how well the students are prepared by their teachers. To assist with this preparation, CSDA will hold training workshops in the different activities for teachers and coaches.
